Wrestling is a unique art. It’s a mixture of performance and pain, cheesy acting and serious injury. The sport’s beginnings were nowhere near as popular as it has become nowadays, although it’s always had ardent fans. But one family made the art into a superstardom, and they sacrificed themselves in the process.Harris Dickinson, Jeremy Allen White, and Zac Efron in the Iron Claw, courtesy of Elevation Pictures. The Iron Claw is a biopic about that family, and their contributions to wrestling and kayfabe. Fritz Von Erich (played by Holt McCallany from Mindhunter) is a wrestler who couldn’t quite become a superstar, so he raised his sons to to do that instead. Kevin (played by Zac Efron from High School Musical) is the oldest, Kerry (played by Jeremy Allen White from the Bear) is the strongest, David (played by Harris Dickinson from Triangle of Sadness) plays the crowd the best, and Mike (played by Stanley Simons from Superior) is the youngest. Major League Baseball's 11-man competition committee adopted a number of rule changes Thursday, which included widening the runner's lane going to first base, while also shortening the pitch clock in different situations. When it comes to the new pitch clock rule, the time limit for pitchers to deliver a pitch while runners are on base will be shortened from 20 seconds down to 18, in an effort to continue to speed up games, as evidenced by the implementation of the pitch clock last season.According to MLB.com's Anthony Castrovince, the strategy behind shortening the pitch clock even more from last season was backed by the idea to get the seven-ish minutes back that accumulated at the end of games from April to September.Average game length by month in 2023:April — 2:37May — 2:38June — 2:39July — 2:41August — 2:41September — 2:44The new runner’s lane overrides a rule that has existed since the National League mandated in 1882 that runners must be within the 3-foot box on the foul side...Black leaders call on UT Austin ahead of Sugar Bowl to stop playing 'Eyes of Texas'

Like its central character, Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel “The Color Purple” has had a long journey. Published in 1982, this lyrical story of a poor Black woman’s eventual triumph over an abusive husband and a seemingly uncaring world became a movie directed by Steven Spielberg in 1985, and then a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical in 2005. And here it is, transformed again: a new movie, based on the stage musical but featuring some new songs, directed by filmmaker/musician Blitz Bazawule.Let me just repeat a key word in that previous sentence: This is a capital-M Musical, complete with big songs and enormous dance numbers and larger-than-life emotions — and it’s often irresistibly exhilarating, as the best musicals can be. I haven’t seen the stage version of “The Color Purple,” but I can absolutely imagine what an impact it would have on an audience, how Miss Celie’s journey would sweep you up and carry you to a higher, more joyful place. That’s basically what happen...Rosemount City Council unanimously approves Meta data center on UMore Park land
